The EU officially issued the revised directive on universal chargers
Directive (EU) in the Official communique 0J on 7 December 2022/2380 to supplement the specific implementation requirements of 3.3 (a) in RED
scope of application
The instructions covers 13 categories of wireless devices, including smartphones, tablets, digital cameras, headphones, handheld game consoles, portable speakers, e-books, keyboards, mice, portable navigation and laptops
Implement the plan requirements
The mandatory implementation date of the revised directive is 28 December 2024 (relaxed for 2 years, dated 28 April 2026), which means that new equipment entering the EU market after the mandatory date will meet the directive requirements.
Admidia identification requirements
All categories of equipment shall be identified in the user manual. Devices supporting fast charging should identify PD fast charging and other supported fast charging protocols. Labeling requirements: the outer package of the equipment should be marked whether the charger is equipped, the outer package and the manual should mark the PD fast charging specificationg
